A Time Line of Events". Earl Chapman on the Titanic Discussion List originally
published this chronology of events. Chapman modified it slightly in 1997. The
1997 version formed the basis of this timeline.

Summary: AU. It is the spring of 1912 and Xander Harris, who has been living
with relatives in Ireland, is heading home. As a gift of love, he was booked
passage on the maiden voyage of the Titanic with the promise that it will be the
adventure of a lifetime.

Author's note: This story is NOT a retelling of any of the Titanic movies.
It is the tale of one man and one vampire forgotten by history and the destiny they
both find on this doomed crossing.

Hi guys. It has been a long and busy week here and my Saturday is about to get even busier. Hence, the reason I'm posting my recs early this morning.

My first choice today is a Giles/Cordelia fic, Need by Laure Alexander and Kate Keene. I will say, it won't be to everyone's taste. It is rated FRAO for spanking and discipline. Cordelia is coping with a breakup the only way she knows how. From the way she behaves around Giles, it is obvious this isn't the first time the pair have indulged in this type of behaviour and Giles certainly has his own reasons for helping Cordelia.

My second rec is another dark(ish) story. It is a very short piece, but what it lacks in length is makes up for in quality. Always by Marta Jadczyk is an AU: Buffy dies, Giles seeks vengence fic. If Buffy's death had been written this way on the show, I could quite see this being Giles's reaction and from my point of view, it never hurts to see Ripper coming out to play.

My final rec today will certainly lighten the mood I've set here. A Night To Remember by Zigpal picks up at the end of The Prom. However, instead of dancing with Angel, Buffy spends her evening dancing with Giles. When everyone else starts pairing off, Buffy opts to stay with her Watcher. Ice cream leads to an interesting evening. Who can resist the idea of a chocolate covered Watcher? I know I can't!

He stops sucking face with the inanimate object and, lifting his mouth from the fuzz, looks at me. "Wha-a-t!? Can't you see I'm thinking?"

I try to think of something that will shock him, throw a wrench in his works, sabotage that razor mind and grind it to a temporary frozen-in-its tracks halt. Something clever yet suave and subtle...What would Alan Alda say?
Fuck it! "Lust."
House stares at me with eyes getting rounder with every step I take toward him.
Just call him Snowman. Frozen by me.
Cool.
I reach him. "Forget the damn ball." And remove the object of affection from his hands, laying my palms on either side of Mister Scratchy.
"I'm a way better kisser."

Everyone is excited about November 30's episode, which is great, but caution to those recording it: it ends at 9:01 pm instead of 9:00 pm. The episode is one minute longer that usual. So reset your VCRs, TiVos, what have you. Mods I hope this OK, I did it for the public good.

Winter is this way . . .

I've been working on a tag to 5x10, but...it's really hard to write. I don't know why, but my muse is fighting me on it. Astra just won't work with me. And I don't think it has anything to do with any of my other projects (World On Fire or homework) but she just...I can't seem to write it.

Argh. Dear muse: please don't be letting me hit burnout.

(It's probably to do with the fact that I have other things I need to be writing and doing, like homework, and again with the guilt over not doing them. Even though I've got half of my homework done at this point, and am completely done with homework for two of my classes up through the end of the semester. *is skeeeeeeeeeered*)

Off to write. Some more. If Astra will let me.

That's right. Every kind of sex you could have thought of. It's all shoved in there. Well, not EVERY kind. But a lot.

I'm not writing for Martian Holiday this year, but for those who are, and are thinking of writing a story about Gene's (or Ray's!) childhood, I've been reading a book called Christmas on the Home Front by Mike Brown. The reason I mention it is there are several pages devoted to the greater Manchester area, which suffered terrible, terrible air raids during Christmas 1940. In Manchester alone there were 363 people killed, and 455 seriously injured between the 22nd and 24th of December.

(The reason I mention it here is, with that little part of my hind-brain which is entirely dedicated to LOM I read this and immediately thought: Angsty!Gene!Childhood!Christmas fic. Of course I may be the only one, but then again, I simply could have been lurking here too often. *G* )
